The Kalama defense was there all game.

Then the Chinooks put on a shooting clinic in the second half.

Haley Bannister had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Kalama rolled past Heritage 59-10 Saturday in the Hoops on the Holiday girls basketball tournament at Evergreen High School.

Not that Kalama needed a big second half — the defense gave up 10 points! — but the team scored 40 points on 17-of-25 shooting. The Chinooks made their first 10 shots of the fourth quarter before missing out on a perfect shooting quarter with a missed layup in the final seconds of the game.

Kaelyn Shipley added 11 points. Parker Esary had 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting. Bannister was 6 for 9 from the floor.

Cassidy Morris and Anna Pentilla each scored three points for Heritage. Amy Gould grabbed eight rebounds. Jazmin Lopez had three steals.
