Holiday closures for New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day

What’s open and what’s closed for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:

MAIL: Post offices open Wednesday, with regular home delivery. Post offices closed Thursday. Only priority mail delivered on Thursday. The postal unit at Shell, 1605 N.W. Sixth Ave., Camas, is open 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day of the year.

GARBAGE: Regular service Wednesday. Trash and recyclables normally picked up on Thursday or Friday by Waste Connections in Vancouver and most of Clark County will be picked up one day late. Friday’s normal collection will be picked up Saturday. In Camas, Thursday’s trash and recyclables will be picked up Friday with Friday’s regular collections.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES: Fort Vancouver Regional Library and Camas Public Library open until 6 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday.

CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES: Offices open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday; closed Thursday. For 24-hour customer service, call 360-992-3000. To report outages or emergencies, call 360-992-8000.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES: Open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

PARKING METERS: On-street parking in Vancouver is free Thursday.

BUSES: C-Tran follows regular schedule Wednesday, and Sunday/holiday schedule on Thursday. TriMet buses follow regular schedule Wednesday. MAX follows extra late-night service Wednesday. On Thursday, TriMet buses and MAX follow the Sunday schedule.

DRIVER’S LICENSING: Offices open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

EMISSIONS TESTING: Open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

VEHICLE LICENSING: Open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

BANKS: Most open regular hours Wednesday. Check your bank for details. Closed Thursday.

FINANCIAL MARKETS: Open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

ZOO: Oregon Zoo in Portland open Wednesday and Thursday.

GIFFORD PINCHOT NATIONAL FOREST HEADQUARTERS: Offices in Vancouver and Amboy open 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, closed Thursday and Friday.

CLARK COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM: Open Wednesday, closed Thursday.

MARSHALL COMMUNITY CENTER: Open 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday.

FIRSTENBURG COMMUNITY CENTER: Open 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday.

ANIMAL SHELTERS: Humane Society for Southwest Washington: Open noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday. West Columbia Gorge Humane Society: Dog shelter open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday. Cat shelter open 11 p.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday.

WESTFIELD VANCOUVER MALL: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. On Wednesday, JCPenney is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Macy’s is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Thursday, anchor stores’ hours are: JCPenney, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Macy’s, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Nordstrom, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sears, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

THE COLUMBIAN: Offices open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday. Circulation customer service open 4:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, and 4:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.
