WSP launches online VIN inspections

The Columbian
Published: December 30, 2014, 4:00pm

Drivers can now schedule vehicle identification number inspections online. Previously, those needing to schedule an inspection had to do so by phone. The new system will help motorists determine if the vehicle requires an inspection, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The agency has to inspect vehicles that have been rebuilt or declared a total loss by an insurance company, vehicles reported stolen, homemade vehicles or other vehicles without a proper VIN.

The state patrol expects phone calls and wait time for inspections to decrease due to the new program.
