KELSO — The Cowlitz County sheriff’s office says an inmate who hanged himself with a sheet in the county jail was alone and had been checked less than an hour before corrections officers found him.

The sheriff’s office says 31-year-old Cameron K. Kuanoni of Kelso had made no statements indicating he was thinking of harming himself.

Attempts to revive him Monday night failed and he was declared dead at St. John Hospital.

Kuanoni had been booked into jail Friday for domestic violence and a hold order from the state Department of Corrections.
