U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, announced Tuesday the first U.S. House STEM App Challenge for high school students. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
High school students nationwide can showcase their ability to create software applications, or apps, for mobile, tablet or computer devices on a platform of their choice.
Last year, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR 77, The Academic Competition Resolution, putting the STEM App Challenge in motion. The winning application from Southwest Washington will be featured on the House of Representatives’ website, House.gov.

• Who: Open to all high school students, grades nine through 12, who either reside or attend school in Southwest Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.
