PORTLAND — Traffic along Interstate 5 on the Columbia River bridge at Portland is moving normally Wednesday after overnight repairs to the southbound span.

Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Don Hamilton says the repair went quicker than expected and the span was fixed around midnight.

The 56-year-old southbound span failed to completely close after a lift for river traffic Tuesday night because a roller in the mechanism came off track.
