The board of Evergreen Public Schools will interview five candidates Feb. 19 for the open District 2 board position vacated when Joan Skelton resigned in December.

Christie BrownSilva, Gordon T. Edwards, Karen Ferguson, Rob Perkins and Brad Windler were selected for interviews from a dozen applicants. Current board members Julie Bocanegra, Victoria Bradford, Michael Parsons and Todd Yuzuriha will select the new board member to complete Skelton’s term until November 2015, at which time the new board member will have the opportunity to run for election.

Board members establish the district’s goals and policies, and are the governing body on adopting school budgets and all fiscal matters. Its new member will be selected by the end of the month and will be sworn in at the March 11 meeting.
