PORTLAND — Police say a 78-year-old woman was killed and her 80-year-old husband was injured when they were hit by a vehicle as they walked across a street in an unmarked crosswalk in southeast Portland.

KATU-TV reports that Sgt. Pete Simpson said that around 11:30 a.m. Friday, the 38-year-old driver was making a left turn from Southeast 84th Avenue onto Division Street when he hit the couple. The woman died at the scene, and her husband was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Simpson said.

Neither they nor the driver were immediately identified.
