3 women to be honored for works

Annual Iris Awards recognize lasting contributions in region

Kris M. Henriksen, Sherri McMillan and Kristy Weaver will be recognized as women of achievement in Southwest Washington at the Iris Awards presented by Clark College on March 13 at the college’s Gaiser Student Center, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.

A 5 p.m. reception will be followed by the 6 p.m. awards ceremony.

2012 was the inaugural year for the Iris Awards, the rebirth of the Women of Achievement Awards first begun by Clark College in 1985 to commemorate Women’s History Month by recognizing outstanding women leaders in Clark County.

Celebrating the lasting and far-reaching contributions of women in Southwest Washington, the award is sponsored by the college, the Clark College Foundation, Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and the Vancouver Business Journal.

This year’s recipients are:

• Kris M. Henriksen is the program coordinator at the Clark County Department of Community Services. She was instrumental in developing TeenTalk, a peer-to-peer support line for teens, which has received national recognition.

• Sherri McMillan is the owner of Northwest Personal Training, celebrating its 14th anniversary in Vancouver. She is the event director for the Girlfriends Run for a Cure, the Girlfriends & Dudes Triathlon, Summer Solstice race and March Muddy Madness.

• Kristy Weaver is the senior vice president and Southwest Washington team leader at Pacific Continental Bank. Weaver is on the board of directors at the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, the Children’s Center and the Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation.
