PASCO — Police say an intruder shot to death early Friday at a Pasco home was not a burglar or attempting to break in.

Officials said Tuesday they need more time to review evidence to determine if the homeowner was justified in shooting 28-year-old Stephan Sergio Aceves of Pasco.

Police say he was shot several times after he came pounding on the door in the middle of the night at the home of Rudy Ontiveros Jr., an Energy Northwest nuclear plant security guard. His girlfriend and four children were inside.

Aceves’ family told the Tri-City Herald that he had been at a family gathering at his stepbrother’s house around the corner. His family speculates he went outside for a cigarette and returned to the wrong house.
