BOSTON (AP) — Maurice Watson Jr. had 12 points and six assists on Thursday as Boston University won its Patriot League debut 70-60 over Holy Cross.

D.J. Irving stripped the ball from Justin Burrell with 38 seconds left and made both free throws to put Boston up 68-60.

Dom Morris and John Papale added 11 points each and eight players scored at least six points for the Terriers (8-6, 1-0).

Holy Cross (6-7, 0-1) trailed by 10 with 1:07 to play when Cullen Hamilton scored and Burrell followed with a steal and a layup to bring the Crusaders with 66-60. After Travis Robinson missed the front end of a 1-and-1 for Boston, Holy Cross had a chance to make it a one-possession game, but Burrell attacked the rim and turned it over to Irving.

Dave Dudzinski had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Holy Cross and Hamilton led the Crusaders with 16 points.
