ASHWAUBENON, Wisc. (AP) — Alec Brown scored 17 points in helping Wisconson-Green Bay overcome a lackluster 23-point first half performance and pull off a 66-55 victory over Cleveland State in a Horizon League conference opener for both schools on Thursday night.

Keifer Sykes and Jordan Fouse added 15 apiece for Green Bay.

Cleveland State (8-7, 0-1 Horizon) outrebounded the Phoenix 15-3 offensively but allowed 8 blocked shots and 8 steals while shooting just under 40 percent. Brown’s four free throws seven minutes into the second half put Green Bay out in front 40-38 and Cleveland fell off the pace down the stretch, never posing a threat.

Green Bay (10-3, 1-0 Horizon) started slow offensively trailing Cleveland State 29-23 at intermission, but upped the team shooting percentage to 55 percent by game end in sealing the victory.

Trey Lewis and Marlin Mason scored 11 each for the Vikings.
