ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Regally Ready won the $65,000 Mercury Purse by 114 lengths at Santa Anita on Thursday.

Ridden by Hall of Famer Mike Smith, Regally Ready ran a mile on the turf in 1:33 and paid $8, $3.80 and $2.80.

Bio Pro returned $3.20 and $2.20 as the 2-1 favorite. Boat Trip was another 234 lengths back in third and paid $2.20 to show.

“It was pretty easy today,” said Smith, who hadn’t ridden the 7-year-old gelding since winning the Grade 3 San Simeon Handicap in April 2011. “I would have never dreamed two years ago that I would be riding this horse going long, and thinking that he might like it better than sprinting.”

The victory, worth $39,000, increased Regally Ready’s career earnings to $1,324,808, with 11 wins in 29 starts.
