Looking at the top 10 stories of the year in The Columbian reminded me of the lack of standing given the story of the National Park Service takeover of Pearson Air Museum. Of course, it wasn’t in the 10 lesser-told stories this year either.
After a few politicians and news media groups milked the news value, there has been little said lately about the air museum. Could the reason be that it’s now just another of the Park Service exhibits to walk through, like the bakery or the fort itself? I’m sure the National Park Service knows how short our memories are. Another year or so, we’ll even forget what once was a living, exciting place in Vancouver to enjoy and could live up to the meaning of the word “museum.” That’s too bad.
