The Portland Winterhawks suffered their third Western Hockey League loss in a row, falling 5-1 to the Tri-City Americans at Kennewick on Friday.

Portland (25-11-2-2) didn’t get on the scoreboard until it was 5-0 Tri-City in the third period.

Chase De Leo ended the Tri-City shutout bid with a goal at 12:06 in the third.

Portland outshot Tri-City 38-31.

The Hawks were once again without Taylor Leier, Nic Petan and Derrick Pouliot, who are all representing Canada at the World Junior Championship, and Brendan Leipsic, who’s serving a suspension.

The Hawks return to action today when they host the Victoria Royals at Memorial Coliseum.
