DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Eric McKnight and Bernard Thompson each scored 14 points to lead a balanced Florida Gulf Coast offense in a 68-55 win at Stetson on Sunday.

Florida Gulf Coast (9-7, 3-0 Atlantic Sun Conference) used a 14-2 run midway through the first half to open a 21-13 lead after trailing early, and held off Stetson (3-12, 1-2) in the second half.

The Hatters closed to within 50-47 with 5:06 remaining, but Chase Fieler responded with a 3-pointer for the Eagles. Thompson then hit three big baskets for Florida Gulf Coast, scoring seven of the next eight points for the Eagles to keep Stetson from cutting into the deficit.
