Chattanooga comes back against The Citadel 82-78

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Z. Mason scored 30 points with 14 rebounds to lead Chattanooga back from a 12-point second half deficit to beat the Citadel 82-78 on Monday.

Mason had 11 offensive rebounds for Chattanooga (8-8, 2-0 Southern Conference). Casey Jones added 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Ronrico White had 13.

The Citadel was led by Ashton Moore’s 21 points, while Brian White had 20 and Matt Van Scyoc added 16, including four 3-pointers.

Van Scyoc made two 3s late in the first half to push The Citadel’s lead to 42-34 at the intermission, and it stretched the lead to 12 not 2 minutes into the second half on treys by Van Scyoc and Marshall Harris.

The Mocs scored the next 10 points though, with eight from Mason. There were several lead changes down the stretch, and Jones’ jumper with 50 seconds left finally gave Chattanooga the lead for good.
