Murray St. beats Tennessee-Martin 91-77

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) — Cameron Payne knocked down six 3-pointers and scored 27 points to lead Murray State in a 91-77 Ohio Valley Conference victory over Tennessee-Martin on Sunday afternoon.

Payne was 6 of 10 from long range and finished with five assists. Jarvis Williams and Jeffery Moss both added 20 points, with Williams finishing with 15 boards and Moss going 14 of 14 from the line for the Racers (7-7, 2-0).

The Skyhawks (5-13, 0-3) got within seven, 70-63, after making eight straight points with 4:21 to go. Murray State made 11 of 12 from the free-throw line — including eight from Moss — to stay ahead in the final 1:15.

Terence Smith led Tennessee-Martin with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Marshun Newell added 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting.

Payne is the first Racer to get six 3’s in a game this season.
