No. 15 Penn State defeats No. 22 Iowa 87-71

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Maggie Lucas hit five 3-pointers on her way to 27 points to lead No. 15 Penn State to an 87-71 victory over No. 22 Iowa on Sunday.

Penn State (10-3, 1-0 Big Ten) won its second game against a ranked opponent this season. Iowa (12-3, 0-1) lost for the first time at home this season.

Iowa was down nine when back-to-back 3-pointers by Melissa Dixon and Samantha Logic pulled the Hawkeyes within 61-58 with 9:15 remaining. The Lady Lions answered with an 11-3 run to stretch the lead to 72-61 with 6:01 to play. Lucas made two free throws, a 3-pointer and a jumper during the run.

Iowa closed the gap to 79-67 with 3:57 left. Penn State finished with an 8-4 run, with Lucas scoring six points.

Dixon scored 22 points. Logic added 13 points with 12 assists to lead the Hawkeyes.
