Police in Battle Ground are seeing a spike in the number of car prowls reported around the city. Over the past several weeks, suspects got inside unlocked vehicles and took valuables.

Most of the cases occurred between 8 p.m. and midnight in the residential areas north of Main Street and west of 20th Avenue. Additionally, during December, there were six car thefts; a seventh vehicle was stolen on New Year’s Day, according to the agency’s online crime map.

The Battle Ground Police Department reminds people to remove valuables and lock their vehicles. Any thefts, or suspicious people or vehicles should be reported to 911, the agency said.

Anyone with information on the recent car prowls is asked to call Detective Sgt. Aaron Kanooth at 360-342-5254.
