Hart leads Marist past Canisius 65-62

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Khallid Hart scored 19 points, pulled down nine rebounds and handed out six assists, all career highs, as Marist beat Canisius 65-62 Monday night.

Jay Bowie hit a 3-pointer with 3:14 remaining to give Marist (5-9, 2-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) a three-point lead and he hit another with 1 minute left to make it 63-57. Zach Lewis cut the Canisius deficit to three with 12 seconds left but Chavaughn Lewis hit 2 of 4 free throws in the final 10 seconds to seal the victory for the Red Foxes.

Canisius (9-6, 3-1) shot 38.7 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent from the free throw line. Billy Baron paced the Golden Griffins 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jordan Heath added 11 points.

Lewis finished with 19 points and Bowie scored 18 and grabbed seven boards for Marist, which has won five straight after opening the season 0-9.
