BUIES CREEK, N.C (AP) — Reco McCarter scored 19 points, including a late 3-pointer, to lead Campbell over High Point 74-71 on Wednesday.

Campbell (7-9, 1-0 Big South) held a 15-point halftime lead and survived a comeback attempt by High Point (4-10, 0-1) to hang on to the conference win.

High Point trailed by nine after Leek Leek’s layup with 6:28 left made it 69-60. But the Panthers used an 11-2 run, including a 3-pointer by Adam Weary to tie at 71 with 2:33 left, but those were the last points High Point scored in the game.

McCarter hit a trey with 1:18 remaining to break the tie and High Point missed its final three shots, all 3-point attempts.

Weary led High Point with 22 points, while John Brown and Dejuan McGaughy both had 15 points. Brown added 10 rebounds.
