St. Bonaventure handles Richmond 84-70

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. (AP) — Matthew Wright scored 20 points and Youssou Ndoye had 19 as St. Bonaventure opened Atlantic-10 play with an 84-70 win over Richmond on Wednesday.

Wright hit 7 of 12 shots while Ndoye made 11 of 17 free throws and grabbed 11 rebounds. Andel Cumberbatch had 12 points and Jordan Gathers contributed 11 off the bench for the Bonnies (11-4), who made 27 of 39 free throws.

Cedrick Lindsay led Richmond (10-6) with 27 points. The Spiders, who fell behind 40-27 at halftime, only made 13 of 26 free throws. Trey Davis had a career-high 14 rebounds.

Wright had 5 of 9 points for the Bonnies after Richmond took a 14-13 lead. He had 5 more points in what became at 17-3 run for a 30-17 lead.

Richmond took a 57-55 lead on a Trey Davis layup at 9:03 but Wright tied it with a layup to start a 9-0 surge.
