American U beats Loyola (Md) 65-51

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Kager and Jesse Reed both scored 16 points to as American breezed past Loyola (Md) 65-51 on Wednesday.

Darius Gardner added 11 points for the Eagles (7-7, 3-0 Patriot League), while Tony Wroblicky had 10 points and 10 rebounds. American shot 56 percent from the floor and hit 4 of 8 of 3-point attempts.

Loyola (6-8, 1-2) was led by Dylon Cormier with 13 points and Eric Laster added 11. The Greyhounds were just 32 percent from the field and a dismal 1 of 11 beyond the arc.

Loyola took a 12-11 lead on Jordan Latham’s dunk at 11:24 en route to a 26-22 advantage at the half.

But American scored the first 11 points after the break, and had another 11-0 run later in the frame — including Kager’s emphatic dunk — to win going away.
