BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Greg Bretz turned in a solid halfpipe run in snowy conditions to lead qualifying Wednesday at the U.S. Grand Prix.

Bretz scored 91.4 points on his opening run to advance to the final Saturday in the season’s third of five selection events for the U.S. Olympic team. Louie Vito was second and Shaun White wound up third with a safe run as both moved on. White is competing on a left ankle that’s mending after he tweaked it a few weeks ago.

In women’s qualifying, 13-year-old Chloe Kim had the top performance with 96 points. Kaitlyn Farrington was second and Elena Hight took third. Kelly Clark, who’s already mathematically locked up a spot on the Olympic team bound for Sochi, finished sixth to advance.
