Hartford beats Maine 80-65

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Mark Nwakamma scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on Thursday as Hartford rallied to beat Maine 80-65 for its first America East Conference win of the season.

Oren Faulk scored 14 for the Hawks (7-10, 1-1), Yolonzo Moore II scored 11 and Nate Sikma added 10 and grabbed nine rebounds.

The lead changed hands 10 times until Christian Ejiga put Maine up by one with a free throw with 37 seconds to play for a 31-30 halftime lead.

Hartford took a 34-31 second-half lead on back-to-back layups by Sikma, but Maine tied it at 55 on a free throw by Shaun Lawton with 9 minutes to play. Hartford ripped a 9-0 run in which Nwakamma made a layup and a dunk to lead 64-55, then went on a 13-4 run down the stretch to win.

Xavier Pollard led Maine (3-11, 1-1) with 26 and Zarko Valjarevic scored 11.
