Letter: Medical decisions are personal

The Columbian
Published: January 9, 2014, 4:00pm

Does state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, do any research? Last week, he wrote a letter to the state auditor asking him to look into a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood. There are many problems with this erroneous claim. First, the lawsuit is two years old. Second, the Department of Justice reviewed it and declared it not valid. Third, the case was dismissed

But I guess to Benton the truth doesn’t actually matter. He continues to do everything he can in his years-long witch hunt against Planned Parenthood. This man is on the record opposing abortion. He has absolutely no credibility when it comes to women’s reproductive health, and will absolutely not listen to anything about the myriad of valuable services Planned Parenthood offers to women in need.

Politicians don’t belong in a woman’s personal medical decision. Benton should stop trying to put himself between a woman and her doctor. Why not instead attempt to learn the facts about the valuable services Planned Parenthood provides?
