Elon holds off The Citadel 74-65

ELON, N.C. (AP) — Lucas Troutman scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Elon defeated The Citadel 74-65 on Saturday night.

Jack Isenbarger added 15 points and Sebastian Koch 14 for the Phoenix (9-8, 2-1 Southern), who defeated the Bulldogs (4-14, 0-3) for the sixth straight time.

Koch made all 14 of his points, including four 3-pointers, in the first half in leading Elon to a 36-29 advantage. The Phoenix extended the lead to 15 with 15:57 left. The Citadel was within seven points with 3:53 but Isenbarger scored five points and Troutman four in a 9-2 run that put Elon up 74-60 with 1:22 to go.

Elon committed only four turnovers while scoring 19 points off 11 Bulldogs miscues. The Phoenix also made 15 of 20 free-throw attempts to The Citadel’s 6 of 9.

Matt Van Scyoc led four Bulldogs in double figures with 16 points. The Citadel has lost six straight.
