Incarnate Word cruises past New Orleans 78-55

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Denzel Livingston scored 29 points in a battle of Southland Conference newcomers, as Incarnate Word beat New Orleans 78-55 on Saturday.

Livingston made nine of his 13 field goal attempts, had five assists and four steals for Incarnate Word (13-2, 1-1). Kyle Hittle added 19 and the Cardinals shot 50.9 percent.

Incarnate Word led by 10 points at halftime after closing the half on 18-2 run. New Orleans committed eight turnovers and shot 1 of 6 from the field during that stretch.

The second half was much the same as the Cardinals opened the half on a 10-1 run, seven scored by Hittle. New Orleans got its first basket of the second half at the 14:10 mark on a Terrance Syon layup. It was a field-goal drought of 9:01, spanning both periods, for New Orleans.

Nate Frye scored a career-high 13 points off the bench for New Orleans (4-8, 1-3).
