Stephen F. Austin knocks off Texas A&M-CC 80-70

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — Thomas Walkup had 21 points and 10 rebounds as Stephen F. Austin won its 12th- straight game, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 80-70 Saturday night.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (6-11, 3-1 Southland) held an early lead but the Lumberjacks (15-2, 4-0) quickly gained control and led 18-8 at the midway point of the first half and 35-27 at the break.

The Islanders closed to 51-42 at the 12:45 mark of the second half but Deshaunt Walker, who finished with 14 points, made a three-point play and Jacob Parker hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 59-42 with 9:29 remaining.

Joy Williamson hit a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left to close the gap to 72-62.

Tanner Clayton added 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Nikola Gajic had 11 points for the Lumberjacks.

John Jordan led the Islanders with 24 points and Jake Kocher added 12.
