NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Dominique Major scored 19 points as St. Francis (Pa.) held off Central Connecticut 75-67 on Saturday.

St. Francis (3-12, 1-1 Northeast) got 18 points and 12 rebounds from Earl Brown, while Malik Harmon added 12 points and Ollie Jackson had 10 points and eight boards.

Central Connecticut (4-11, 0-2) was paced by Faronte Drakeford’s 22 points and Matt Mobley had 19 points in the loss.

The teams were tied at 15 with 9:28 in the first half, but the Red Flash went on a 12-2 run — including a 3-pointer by Major and a dunk by Brown — en route to a seven-point halftime lead at 35-28.

CCSU cut the lead to two with 8:56 left in the game on a Drakeford jumper, but St. Francis scored the next seven points to quell the comeback attempt.

St. Francis made 18 free throws, compared to just nine for Central Connecticut.
