MIAMI (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor has been hired as offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the Dolphins hadn’t announced the hiring.

Lazor joined the Eagles a year ago when Chip Kelly was hired as head coach. Lazor was instrumental in the development of second-year quarterback Nick Foles, who led the NFL in passing this season.

Lazor was offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia from 2010 to 2012, and he has also worked for the Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons. He replaces Mike Sherman, who was fired last week after two seasons with Miami.
