ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — The Washington Redskins have hired Ben Kotwica as special teams coordinator, one of three moves announced Wednesday as new coach Jay Gruden begins to put together his staff.

The Redskins also promoted Sean McVay to offensive coordinator, a move expected after Gruden was hired last week.

Kotwica spent the last seven seasons with the New York Jets, working mostly with special teams. He has served the U.S. Army in Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina and South Korea after graduating from West Point.

In another move, the Redskins hired Brian Baker as outside linebackers coach. He held the same role this season with the Cleveland Browns, his seventh team in 18 years as an NFL assistant.
