State legislative leaders appointed Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, to the House Local Government Committee, which oversees growth management policies, Pike announced Wednesday.

The committee also crafts policies about the operations and financing of local governments, land-use planning and local permitting.

Pike said the new committee assignment lets her work on her goal to restore money to the state’s Public Works Assistant Account, which provides low-interest loans for local governments’ building projects. Money for that account was diverted last year to help pay for the state’s public schools.

Pike, who represents the 18th Legislative District, also is assistant ranking Republican on the House Environment Committee and a member of the House Transportation Committee. For more information, see www.representativelizpike.com.
