Dority leads Valparaiso over Milwaukee 75-62

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — LaVonte Dority scored 19 of his 27 points in the first half as Valparaiso held on to defeat Milwaukee 75-62 Saturday.

Dority hit a 3-pointer to give Valparaiso a 40-30 lead at halftime. Valparaiso led by as many as 13 points, 52-39 with 14:10 remaining. Matt Tiby hit two in a row to pull Milwaukee within single digits, 60-54 with 5:05 to play. The Crusaders answered with a 15-8 run to cap the scoring.

Dority made 9 of 16 field goals, including 5-for-10 shooting from 3-point range. He has scored 20 points or more for the second straight game. Lexus Williams scored 12 points and Keith Carter added 10 points for Valparaiso (11-9, 3-2 Horizon). Moussa Gueye grabbed 12 rebounds for the Crusaders.

Tiby finished with a career-high 22 points to lead Milwaukee (13-7, 3-3). Jordan Aaron added 13 points for the Panthers.
