Florida International beats East Carolina 68-64

MIAMI (AP) — Rakeem Buckles scored 18 points, including a pair of free throws with 7 seconds to play, grabbed 11 rebounds and swiped four steals as Florida International beat East Carolina 68-64 Saturday.

Jerome Fink’s layup with 1:53 remaining gave FIU (10-9, 2-2 Conference USA) a 66-62 lead. Michael Zangari hit a pair of free throws to pull ECU within two with 33 seconds left and, after a series of missed free throws by both teams, Akeem Richmond missed a 3-point shot for the Pirates. Buckles grabbed the rebound and was fouled by Zangari before icing the game at the line.

Tymell Murphy added 18 points, seven boards and four assists for the Golden Panthers, who shot 52 percent from the floor. Dennis Mavin scored 10 points.

Paris Roberts-Campbell led ECU (11-7, 0-3) with 15 points and seven assists. Zangari added 14 points and Caleb White 11. Antonio Robinson finished with 10.
