Long River rolls in Big A’s Evening Attire Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Long River beat Percussion by three-quarters of a length, extending his winning streak to three on Saturday in the $100,000 Evening Attire Stakes at Aqueduct.

Percussion, a 9-1 long shot, set the pace in the 1 1-16 miles race in a strong bid to pull the upset. Long River reeled in the leader in the deep stretch for his fourth win in nine starts.

The top two were 1312 lengths clear of third-place finisher Jonesy Boy.

A 4-year-old trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., Long River was timed in 1:44.71 on the track rated good. He paid $5.30, $3.20 and $2.70.

Percussion returned $6.30 and $5.40. Jonesy Boy paid $3.50.
