PORTLAND — Police say the wounded suspect in a weekend shooting at a Portland strip club has died of his injuries.

Sgt. Pete Simpson said 43-year-old Thomas Elliott Hjelmeland died Thursday at a Portland hospital.

The spokesman says an investigation of the Saturday night shooting continues and no arrests have been made.

The Oregonian reports that friends say a club bouncer shot in the head by a masked intruder at the Mystic Gentleman’s Club remains in critical condition. The club’s owner has said bouncer Brian Rizzo refused to admit a man earlier in the evening after the man made rude and racist remarks while waiting in line.

The newspaper says a second bouncer trailed the masked gunman out of the club and fired his own gun at the man.

Two other people in the club suffered minor injuries.
