KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Martez Harrison scored 21 points, including the game-winning free throw with 4 seconds left, as University of Missouri-Kansas City slipped past New Mexico State 68-66 on Saturday night.

Leading by as many as 16 points midway through the first half, UMKC (6-11, 3-2 Western Athletic Conference) had to hold off a second-half New Mexico State rally that tied the game at 62 and then again at 66 on a Kevin Aronis 3-pointer with 6 seconds to play. The Kangaroos then retook the lead on Harrison’s foul shooting and held on for the win.

Nelson Kirksey contributed 17 points, Frank Williams added 13 and Trinity Hall had 10 for UMKC, which snapped a two-game home losing skid.

Renaldo Dixon led New Mexico State (14-7, 3-2) with a career-high 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting. Tshilidzi Nephawe added 14 points and nine rebounds.
