Middle Tennessee routs Texas-San Antonio 80-58

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Kerry Hammonds II had 19 points with 5-of-7 3-point shooting to power Middle Tennessee’s 80-58 blowout victory Saturday against Texas-San Antonio.

The Blue Raiders (12-6, 2-1 Conference USA) opened the second half with a 12-0 run for a 49-23 advantage and pushed their lead to 38 on three separate occasions before the Roadrunners closed the game on a 16-0 run to cut the deficit to 22.

Marcus Tarrance added a career-high 16 points and Reggie Upshaw Jr. scored 12 for Middle Tennessee which opened the game by scoring the first 13 points.

Jordan Sims put UTSA (6-11, 2-2) on the board with a 3-pointer at the 14:09 mark, but the Roadrunners trailed by as a many as 19 before a 37-23 halftime deficit.

Devon Agusi had 18 points for UTSA which shot only 16 of 48 from the field. Kaj-Bjorn Sherman scored 12 and Jordan Sims added 11.
