SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Jarmar Gulley tied a career high with 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Missouri State edged Evansville 64-61 on Tuesday.

Evansville’s D.J. Balentine made 1 of 2 free throws with less than five seconds to play. The Bears held on as Dorrian Williams hit 1 of 2 free throws at the other end for Missouri State and Balentine’s half-court shot attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.

Christian Kirk joined Gulley in double figures with 11 points.

Balentine, the leading scorer in the conference, had 18 points for Evansville and Egidijus Mockevicius added 10.
