Hofstra knocks off William & Mary 77-60

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Zeke Upshaw scored 21 points as Hofstra knocked off William & Mary 77-60 on Wednesday.

Hofstra (7-12, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) shot 47 percent from the floor, including 10 of 20 from beyond the arc. Dion Nesmith scored 15 points and had 10 assists, while Stephen Nwaukoni had 13 points and 14 rebounds.

William & Mary (10-7, 2-2) was led by Marcus Thornton with 17 points and Tim Rusthoven added 13.

Hofstra led 34-33 at the break, but went on a 25-6 run over the first 8:44 of the second half to open up a 20-point lead. William & Mary made just 3 of 13 during the stretch.

The Tribe managed a 16-3 run, including treys by Thornton and Julian Boatner, to cut the lead to 10 with 1:38 left in the game but Hofstra made 10 straight late free throws to seal the win.
