PORTLAND — Renewed labor friction at a Port of Portland container yard Tuesday delayed cargo containers.
The operator, ICTSI Oregon, and the Longshore Union blamed each other for delays in coordinating gear and workers.
The Oregonian reports that the lost productivity comes as the terminal’s biggest shipping line, Hanjin Shipping, is deciding whether to continue calling in Portland.
Port officials had hoped cargo handling would run smoothly after Gov. John Kitzhaber brokered a deal last month over two disputed jobs involving plugging and unplugging refrigerated containers.
