Howard tops Florida A&M in 2nd half, 69-62

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — James Daniel scored 31 points as Howard pushed ahead in the second half and held on to defeat Florida A&M 69-62 on Saturday night.

Daniel finished with four 3-pointers, and Prince Okoroh added 21 points for the Bison (5-15, 3-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic).

Howard trailed at the break, 33-24, but ignited a 12-2 run to go up by two points, 42-40, with 12:01 left to play. After a tie and trailing briefly by one, the Bison went ahead for good with 8:56 remaining, and led by as many as 11 points in the final minutes.

The Rattlers, in their first loss at home this season, got back within six after a 9-2 run with 1:24 to play, but could get no closer.

Florida A&M (7-13, 3-4) combined for 18-of-50 shooting on the floor, and 21 of 37 (56.8 percent) from the free-throw line. Jamie Adams led the Rattlers with 19 points.
