RIDGEFIELD — United Natural Foods Inc. has paid more than $2.1 million for a 7-acre land tract in Ridgefield next to the company’s giant warehouse distribution center.

It is unclear whether an expansion is planned for the Providence, R.I.-based company. United Natural opened its 260,000-square-foot Ridgefield facility in 2007 in the Union Ridge development on the east side of Interstate 5 at 7909 S. Union Ridge Parkway.
