Old Dominion holds on to defeat Tulane 70-64

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Aaron Bacote scored five of his 16 points with less than 2 minutes to play as Old Dominion held on to defeat Tulane 70-64 Saturday night.

Bacote made a layup and three of four free throws to give Old Dominion a 63-52 lead with 1:16 remaining. Tulane answered with two free throws by Louis Dabney and a Jonathan Stark 3-pointer to pull within 63-57 with 1:01 to play. Dabney scored four more points and Jay Hook added a 3-pointer, but Old Dominion made seven of 10 free throws to cap the scoring.

Bacote’s 3-pointer gave the Monarchs their largest lead, 58-43 at the 6:02 mark. Dimitri Batten scored 15 points and Keenan Palmore added 14 for Old Dominion (10-10, 4-1 Conference USA).

Stark scored 21 points and Dabney added 17 to lead Tulane (11-10, 3-3). Hook chipped in 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
