Quinnipiac edges Manhattan in OT, 90-86

RIVERDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Umar Shannon scored 25 points, including a pair of free throws that forced the game into overtime, as Quinnipiac edged Manhattan 90-86 on Sunday.

Shannon, who was 8 of 13 from the penalty stripe, tied the game at 77 with 21 seconds left in regulation after Quinnipiac (12-7, 7-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) blew a 10-point second half lead. The Bobcats took control in OT with an 11-3 spurt and Shannon protected it down the stretch by draining four more free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Zaid Hearst also scored 25 points Quinnipiac and hauled in 10 rebounds. Ike Azotam added 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Evan Conti had 11 points for the Bobcats.

Manhattan (14-5, 7-3) went on a 13-0 run to take a 73-70 lead with under 3 minutes to play.

Rhamel Brown and Michael Alvarado led the Jaspers with 15 points each.
