Hawaii rallies for a 90-86 win over UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Isaac Fotu scored 30 points and Hawaii closed out overtime on a 7-0 run to give the Warriors a 90-86 win over UC Irvine on Saturday.

Keith Shamburger added 17 points and 11 assists for Hawaii (14-5, 3-2 Big West) and his 3-pointer at the end of regulation sent the game into overtime, tied at 78.

Alex Young led six UC Irvine (13-8, 4-1) players in double figures with 14 points. Aaron Wright, Chris McNealy and Mamadou Ndiaye had 12 apiece for the Anteaters.

UIC held the lead throughout the second half, and were up by six points with 1:30 left, until Shamburger’s make from beyond the arc.

Fotu made 13 of 16 shots and Shamburger made 9 of 10 free throws for Hawaii, including 3 of 4 in the final 23 seconds of overtime.
