NC Central gets past Morgan State 53-52

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Jeremy Ingram scored 20 points and Karamo Jawara made a game-winning free throw with a second remaining to give North Carolina Central a 53-52 victory over Morgan State Monday.

The win puts North Carolina Central (14-5, 5-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) alone atop the conference standings. Morgan State (6-12, 4-2) entered the game tied with NCCU for the conference lead.

NCCU led 52-48 with 1:20 remaining. Ian Chiles made two free throws and Donte Pretlow made a basket with 38 seconds left to tie the score at 52. Jawara made the first of two free throws with .07 remaining and missed the second on purpose.

Morgan State held a 41-31 lead midway of the second period. Jay Copeland had a three-point play that started a 16-2 run, that gave the Eagles a 47-43 lead with 4:26 remaining.

Jawara finished with 13 points for NCCU. Justin Black had 17 for Morgan State.
