James Madison beats Northeastern 49-46

BOSTON (AP) — Andrey Semenov scored all nine of his points in the second half with two consecutive three-point possessions in the final minutes to lead James Madison over Northeastern 49-46 on Wednesday night.

The score was tied at 41 when Semenov converted a three-point play with 4:17 left. David Walker answered with a three-point play to pull Northeastern even again at 44, but Semenov hit a 3-pointer with 3:15 to give JMU the lead for good at 47-44.

The Huskies closed within 47-46 on Zach Stahl’s basket with 2:37 to play. Neither team scored again until, with 6 seconds left, JMU scored the final points of the game on a Taylor Bessick layup.

NU had two missed 3-pointers by Demetrius Pollard in the final minute.

Andre Nation led JMU (8-13, 3-4 Colonial Athletic Association) with 13 points; David Walker had 15 points and Scott Eatherton had 13 rebounds for Northeastern (7-15, 4-4).
